I admit to being impressed. Mark’s email has also just landed in my inbox with his reason for his wine selection on Wednesday nights wine tasting event. Sorry – only a Silver Star as the Gold went to Matt. I think they are both fed up of my nagging!
“My choice for the recent Barrels & Bottles Wine Tasting, which showed up and coming wines chosen by the noses at Sheepbridge was a Cru Bourgeois Medoc called Chateau Vieux Robin, 1997.”
“This is a wine and a region that without it wine wouldn’t be what it is today. It is a wine which you can class in that classic mould. Hints of oak with not too heavy tannins, good level of fruit which I’d say is quite smooth and medium-bodied, the grape is a cross off Merlot with Cabernet Franc.”
“I say this wine would drink nicely now or still develop in the next few years. A wine which is good to see from an area of such illustrious neighbours.”
