German wine-maker Kuhling-Gillot, Rheinhessen was the venue for a televised tasting comparing mature German Riesling with great dry wines of the world. The rest of the World included Corton Charlemagne, Chevalier Montrachet and Chave Hermitage Blanc amongst others.
Located at Bodenheim, the Kuhling Gillot winery was the venue for 20 experts (including Jancis Robinson) to compare the ageing process of German wines to the others. The conclusion reached was that vintages older than 1993 the German wines had aged less gracefully but younger vintages showing the dry German Rieslings tasting less austere and holding their own.Share and Enjoy:
