Farewell to Saltergate is catered by Coghlans

chesterfield fc news outside catering

This weekend saw Chesterfield FC say farewell to their old ground (Saltergate) ahead of their move next season to the brand new B2net stadium.

Friday saw 720 guests entertained in a massive marquee erected on the pitch. The guest included a “cavalcade of legends” with Gordon Banks deservedly receiving a standing ovation from the guests. The course dinner by Coghlans included:

Terrine of Pork served with a fig chutney and Brioche

Breast of Locally reared Chicken wrapped in Proscuitto served with Fondant Potato, Fresh Asparagus and a red wine Jus Lie

Elderflower and summer fruits set in a jelly with Clotted Cream

Coffee and Coghlans Chocolates

An excellent rendition of Nessun Dorma and you”ll never walk alone by opera star Martin Toal brought the guests to their feet waving commemorative Chesterfield FC scarves made for the farewell event.

Saturday featured the player awards with goalkeeper Tommy Lee receiving the coveted player of the year award in front of another 720 guests.

Sunday was unfortunately let down by torrential rain so many of the activities had to be cancelled but still saw a good number of fans turn out to get a last chance look at their beloved Saltergate.

Despite the blisters from the miles of walking and pulling two 16 hour shifts the nights were very enjoyable with everything running very smoothly and like clockwork. Chesterfield FC have certainly won over several new fans for the start of the new season!
