Forge Estate WinesThis Vineyard has built its reputation thanks to its unique soils and climate; it is located near the famous city of Carcassonne in Languedoc, on the hills overlooking the Aude Valley. We grow the Chardonnay on the coolest part of the estate vineyard located south of Carcassonne in order to get the best possible acidity balance.

La Forge Estate Chardonnay
Nose: Very elegant with tropical fruits, pineapple, hazelnuts, lime-blossom and quince aromas with a hint of vanilla and toasted bread

Palate: Rich and mellow with a good acidic balance and a long finish with pineapple notes

La Forge Estate Marsanne
Colour: Bright gold with straw yellow tints

Nose: Very elegant with white flowers, honeydew, hazelnuts and quince aromas with a hint of toasted bread.

Palate: Rich and mellow with a good acidic balance and a long finish with honeydew notes.

La Forge Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Colour: Deep garnet red colour with bright ruby tints

Nose: Intense red berry flavours (raspberries), red pepper and tobacco notes underlined with cocoa and spicy vanilla aromas.

Palate: Full bodied with smooth tannins. Ripe cherry flavours on the middle palate, vanilla and spicy notes on the long and fruity finish.

La Forge Estate Carignan
Over 46 years old vines with low. Part of the vineyard is trellised. Guyot Double pruning and cordon de Royat. Soil type: Clayed and Limestone with gravels. Villafranchien soils in some part.

After pick-up the grapes are brought to the winery. Cold pre-fermentation maceration at 10°C. Fermentation at 27 degrees maximum on the first day and then at 24° for the next 4 days. After fermentation, maceration lasted for 7 days at 18 to 23°C maxi with daily pumping over. After maceration, the wine is very softly pressed with a pneumatic press. First pressings are re-blended. Before malolactic fermentation 50% of the wine is put in 225 litre oak barrels. The wine is aged for 6 months in barrels (American Oak 20% new) In May we have finalised the blend of the barrel. The wine is then bottled unfined and unfiltered..

With aromas of spices and blackberry, the second nose develops Underwood and cocoa aromas finishing on toasted oak notes. On the palate this is100 full bodied rich and mellow with velvety tannins. Complex flavours on the middle palate, liquorice flavours on the finish. Long lasting.
