14% of Argentinian vineyards are planted with the Malbec grape

Preliminary data from census made by INV (National Institute of Viticulture) reveal that 30,000 hectares of Malbec and 103,000 hectares of red varieties, covering 48% of the total grown area, are changing the historical ratio of basic and high-quality grapes.

According to preliminary data resulting from the first wine census of Argentina within 20 years, the conclusion drawn up is that 60% of the grown area with grapes for basic wine making has turned into 40%.
