Lion Statue in Chocolate by Russell Housley

Solid Chocolate Lion

Following his success at the David Lyle competition earlier this year Russell’s prize was a chocolate making masterclass in London. Standing over 20 inches tall his creation used no less than 10kg of solid milk chocolate.

The chocolate was slowly mixed in a Robotcoup to provide a putty like consistency to the chocolate. This allows the chocolate to be handled like clay and provide the intricate detailing to the face and mane. Built up slowly by hand this is a solid creation, no moulds were used, crafted by eye.

This an awe inspiring creation – everyone that has seen it is suitably impressed. Top work.

Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2009 Vintage

Cloudy Bay Sauvignon BlancGenerosity is the defining word for the 2009 Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc. Its aromatics encapsulate a broad spectrum of varietal flavours; tropical fragrances of guava and mango to ripe lime/ citrus and sweet herbs. The palate also is juicy and voluminous, combining concentrated flavours with a mineral acidity that leaves a long, fresh, intense finish.

They think it’s all over – and it is now

Article by Martin Dawes, The Star, Thursday June 10th 2010

“Things got quite emotional as Spireites past and present said goodbye to their beloved Saltergate at the weekend. At the player of the year dinner on Saturday, in a giant marquee for 700 on the pitch, the drinks flowed freely.

The 200 suited Chesterfield fans climbed up on t he Kop for one last time and bellowed out footie songs such as the clun anthem’We’ll keep the Blue Flag Flying’. One said ‘They sang far better than they ever did at games’.

On the previous night there was another dinner for Saltergate legends, with former England and Chesterfield goalkeeper Gordon Banks among the guests. And on Sunday there was a family fun day.

Caterer Andrew Coghlan reckons he and his wife Janet must have walked 45 miles over the weekend between kitchen and tables. ‘The furthest table was 200 metres away’

That however, was nothing to what he is used to. ‘I used to run the largest banqueting hall in Germnay whicih could sit down 3,200 people when I worked for Hilton International’.

Chesterfield move to the B2net stadium shortly, just down the road from Coghlans Catering at Sheepbridge”
