We are proud to announce the listing of the wines from the
Glyndwr Vineyard from the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales.
Home-grown wines in the UK are a rarity and Welsh wines are even further and few between. The established vineyard is now producing some excellent wines with real depth of flavour and character.
The Glyndwr wines are available in cases of 12 bottles and also a mixed sampler case. All wines are dispatched directly from the Glyndwr Vineyard to Mainland UK address only at the moment.

Recently we received the opportunity to participate in an exclusive ‘invitation only’ wine competition, the ‘Tri Nations Wine Challenge’. The concept being that the judges select seven of the top wines from New Zealand, Australia and South Africa in each varietal class and the wines go head to head in a Tri Nations taste off.
Two Highfield wines,
Highfield Sauvignon Blanc 2005 and
Elstree Cuvee Brut 1999 were selected for entry into this unique wine show. With such a high caliber of international judges and with only a few wines from each country asked to enter, the invitation to submit two wines was a great achievement in itself. The Highfield Sauvignon Blanc 2005 won 2nd place in the Sauvignon Blanc category ahead of all Australian and South African wines.
This award adds to the success the Highfield Sauvignon Blanc 2005 has already attained, with the 5 star, 95 point rating in Gourmet Traveller WINE and the Trophy for Champion Export Wine at the Royal Easter show Wine Awards 2006. The wine has contributed to the outstanding reputation for the consistent quality and style of wine from Highfield Estate.

Recent upheavals in house moving has seen chaotic scenes with items piled high and low in every room including the kitchen. After a days heavy lifting of furniture, stacking and unpacking it was decided fish & chips from the high street was the order of the day.
Unfortunately the only bottle of alcohol to hand (the rest were put in the cellar to make way for kitchenware) was a bottle of Champagne Lallier. Tiredness and a devil-may-care attitude we opened the bottle. Pure joy even though it was not quite cold enough. The tingle of the bubbles combined with the chips made for a great combination... although severe hunger may have contributed to this euphoria!
This got me thinking about other unsual combinations of wine and food that breaks the accepted tradition. If anyone has discovered a bizarre combination of food and wine that simply works please let me know via email.
