Located in the heart of Sicily (The California of Italy), and is the most ambitious investment ever undertaken by the Zonin family: 320 hectares of splendidly exposed land, of which 180 hectares are planted with vines, situated entirely in the Riesi DOC production zone. The Zonin family has owned the estate since 1997.

This Riesi DOC wine comes from the comunes of Butera and Riesi in the DOC zone in the province of Caltanissetta.

80% Nero d'Avola and 20% Syrah grapes. For each of the varieties (which are vinified seperately) fermentation lasts 3 weeks at temperatures between 26 - 30c. The wine matures for 12 months in 350 litre tonneaux (30% in Slavonian oak casks) followed by a further period of bottle ageing.

The Feudo Principi di Butera Riesi offers a bright, concentrated ruby red colour. The bouquest is complex yet elegant, with rich notes of spices, blackberries, plums, morrello cherries and coffee. Good firm structure on the nose with appealling nuances of sour cherries and a long finish that is reminiscent of sweet almonds.

Excellent with richly flavoured dishes, barbecued meats, lamb, pasta and rice dishes.

100% Syrah grapes from the districts of Butera and Riesi in Caltanisetta.

Manual harvesting was carried out in the third week of September. Fermentation at a temperature of 28c - 30c lasted 8 days. The wine matured for 12 months in 350 litre tonneaux of French oak, follwed by a further period of fining in the bottle.

The colour of the Feudo Principi di Butera is extremely intense ruby red. The nose is full and persistent with appealing notes of cherries, red fruit and sweet spices. This Syrah shows rich, encompassing flavours with a big structure, clean sensations of appealing fruitiness supported by a long finish that caresses the palate.

Ideal with savoury stuffed pastas, stewm game and salami.
