Pertaringa Understudy Cabernet Petit Verdot

So named as it is just that; this wine is the next in line to our flagship red, the Pertaringa Rifle and Hunt Cabernet Sauvignon. No second fiddle, the Understudy Cabernet is a stylistic contrast to our Rifle and Hunt, and is traditionally vinified before maturation in French and American oak, with a view to immediate drinkability. Although this wine will undoubtedly cellar well, as have previous vintages, like all great Understudys, the 2006 won’t like to be kept waiting in the wings for too long before it performs. 20% Petit Verdot is included in this wine for added perfume, richness and mouth feel.

Pertaringa Understudy Cabernet Petit Verdot shows a deep crimson colour with a perfumed nose of violets and Turkish Delight. This is underscored by blackcurrant fruit and spice with earthy nuances. The palate indulges the senses with luscious rich flavours of blackberry blackcurrant and stewed rhubarb.

Pertaringa Understudy is a well structured wine rounded off by well integrated oak characters and supple tannins.
