Moreson Pinotage

The Môreson Pinotage is a rich and heavy red wine. Characterised by plum, black cherry and mocha flavours it is tasty enough to be a meal on its own. It is considered on of the Top 10 Pinotage's in South Africa.

After crushing the fruit was cooled to 10°C before hand-sorting. It was then cold soaked for 3 days in open fermenters. Fermentation was done using a variety of yeast strains and, at 24°C-28°C, with punch downs every 2 hours for a third of the fermentation and, every 4hrs, with two aerated pumpovers there after. Pressing took place at 5°B and fermentation was finished in stainless steel tanks. The Pinotage was transferred from these tanks to barrels for Malolactic Fermentation. Maturation took place in 100% French oak, using 80% new, for period of 16months.

Tasting Notes:
Ripe warm-summer plums and cherry with hints of decadent dark chocolate and earthy coffee. The palate shows an impressive array of complex sweet flavours. Plum, black cherry and a touch of mocha; followed by firm ripe tannins that give a wellbalanced persistent aftertaste.
