Antica Fattoria Sorbaiano

The Estate is situated barely 1Km from Montecatini Val di Cecina, small medieval hilltop village. Sorbaiano, in ancient time was a Roman farm settlement, then later a property of the Inghirami family and it has belonged to the present owners since the 1950s. The property extends over 270 hectares, comprising 160 ha. of cereal crops; 70 ha. of woodland; 15 ha. of olives and 27 ha. of specially vineyard, situated in the Montescudaio DOC production zone.

The familily's latest pride and joy is a highly functional new winery - newly modernized designed according to functional criteria. The premises housing the vat and barriques, the storage space and bottling line have all been heavily modified, this major investment is directed towards establishing the estate at the top end of the Tuscan wine market.

Fattoria Sorbaiano Montescudaio Blanco

DOC., White Montescudiano of is created from the traditional Tuscan grapes Trebbiano, Toscano and Malvasia del Chianti and also the Tyrrhenian Vermentino grapes.

At the Sorbaiano Estate, on the hills of Montecatini Val di Cecina (Pisa), special care is taken in the vineyard cultivation and high technology in the processing of the must and the wines obtained from the grapes gathered, produce an extremely complex wine.

Straw coloured with green reflections. Fine and intense fragrance with varied and rich fruit scents. Dry and soft but fresh and lively taste, pleasantly thirst- quenching.

Great with foie gras, hors d'ouvres and seafood.

Fattoria Sorbaiano Montescudaio Rosso

DOC. Red Montescudaio from the vineyards of the Fattoria Sorbaiano Estate, on the hills which were sacred to the Etruscans in Montecatini Val di Cecina (Pisa). This is another of the marvellous Tuscan wines of the great Sangiovese grape variety which, when combined with Malvasia creates a traditional local style.

The lively ruby-red colour leads through to a wine with just enough tannin, full bodied, soft, harmonious and persistent finish.

Fattoria Sorbaiano Rosso delle Miniere

Some of the vineyards of Sorbiano Estate are situated in especially appropriate positions where wines of all with the best vintages. This is the case with Rosso delle Miniere. Even if this wine is obtained in observance of the norms included in the production regulations, it is a wine of extremely rare quality and Italian Oenology of the 1980's is very proud of this. The excellent Sangiovese, in its maximum quantity allowed, gives Rosso delle Miniere the necessary character and strength to face the long period of refining in 225 litre kegs (10 months).

Crafted from Sangiovese, Cabernet and Malvasia grapes to create an intense and sparkling ruby-red colour. Fine and varied scent which is reminiscent of wild berries and spices.

Fattoria Sorbaiano Blanco Lucastraia

This is a special selection of the White Montescudaio production of the Estate of Sorbiano. This selection is from the Lucestraia vineyard and the grapes ( a special selection of the best-exposed branches that have reached the right point of ripening, with absolute priority given to the quality of each grape) after having gentle cares in the vineyard, never surpasses 35 hl per hectare.

The must obtained by soft pressing of the grapes and is gently and statically decanted before being placed in 225 litre kegs to ferment for around 4 months.

Trebbiano Toscano, Vermentino and Chardonnay grape create a pleasantly strong straw-yellow colour. Fine, elegant and noticeable fragrances of broom and wistaria, vanilla and toasted dried fruits on the nose. Dry yet extremely subtle, elegant and sensational: which lasts a long time on the palate.

Fattoria Sorbaiano Vinsanto

Dessert wine. Montescudaio Vin santo is one of the two Tuscan wines of this category which has obtained the acknowledgement of DOC in 1976. It is a true jewel of the Sorbaiano Estate and is produced in very small quantities.

Fattoria Sorbaiano considerably lengthens the compulsory refining period of this wine (4 years by law). It is put on the market only after five years of ageing in small, traditional kegs. The total alcohol content is much higher than the minimum required by the production regulations (17 per-cent)

The grape varieties Malvasia del Chianti, Trebbiano and Vermentino create a tawny-amber colour. The nose is heavenly and intense fragrance. Its scent is reminiscent of dried fruits and wild flowers. The sweet palate leaves a slightly bitterish after-taste.
