Cliff Edge Wines - Marlborough, New Zealand
Since bursting onto the international wine scene in the 1980's, Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc has almost exclusively been responsible for planting New Zealand on the world wine map. With its racy acidity, intense tropical fruit, green pepper and herbaceous flavours, the savvy has become a classic wine style, and this success has created a whole category with opportunities for expressions at many different price points.
The Cliff Edge branding incorporates the New Zealand Falcon which was re-established in Marlborough's Wairau Valley in 2005. This conservation project has been widely supported by the New Zealand wine industry, particularly as the Falcons are natural predators to pest birds which damage grape crops. Hedges and trees usually cut down to remove pest bird nesting sites are now being left, further benefiting the natural environment.
