The Marnier-Lapostolle family, founders and owners of the world-renowned liqueur, Grand Marnier, have been involved in winemaking for generations. Their objective is as simple as it is ambitious: to create world-class wines using French expertise and the superb terroir of Chile.

Price: £8.32 (for 12 or more)

The season in the Cachapoal Valley was colder than expected but with the usual level of rainfall during the winter. Spring temperatures were average and budding occurred early in the season. There was a frost that affected the central part of the country on October the 10th, causing some damage to our Sauvignon Blanc in Requinoa. Therefore we had no need to do a green harvest as Nature did it for us. We also had an earlier fl owering in November, but the season was very dry, allowing for perfect maturation without any rain. We started picking during the second week of March, and as always employed a strict selection, harvesting block by block only fruit at the maturity we wanted. The results were very promising with beautifully expressive fruit and bright acidity.

Casa Lapostolle Sauvignon is made from 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Semillon grape.

Colour: Bright and attractive light yellow with hints of straw and green.

Nose: Expressive fresh citrus fruit on entry, followed by sweet hints of white fl owers and delicate notes of lychee and fi g.

Palate: Young and pleasant, with fresh acidity followed by a delicate sweetness and abundant citrus aromas that persist in the palate. Light and elegant.

Service: Serve chilled as an aperitif. Always the ideal companion for appetizers and seafood, also compliments spicy cuisine.

Chile is now one of the most asked for wines by country and quite deservedly so. This Casa Lapostolle Sauvignon epitomises the current fashion of wines .. forward, fruit driven on the initial taste and countered by deep complex structures. Gorgeous.

Price: £8.32 (for 12 or more)

Quantity:

This year, the harvest in Casablanca was longer than scheduled. The season required repeated combing of the vineyards and extensive grape tasting to ensure that each plot was completely ripe. Using effective canopy management and by conducting two green harvests, we avoided any problems of botrytis, and were able to wait until may the 17th, to pick the last grapes. Harvested by hand in small cases of 12 kg and transported in refrigerated trucks, 100% of the fruit was sorted by hand on a sorting table and directly pressed without skin contact.

28% of the must was barrel fermented and aged four months in used French oak barrels with lees stirring twice a month. 72% went through fermentation and ageing in stainless steel tanks.

Colour: Bright yellow with delicate and pale green hints.

Nose: Mineral notes with exuberant fruit aromas such as papayas, lime, mango and sweet spices at the end.

Palate: Concentrated but very refreshing at the beginning, followed by a good acidity that is balanced with lovely sweetness. The finish brings a light sweet spices touch coming from the oak.

Service: Enjoy now! Serve chilled at 10ºC as an aperitif or with fish and sea food in general, white meats and vegetarian dishes. Also very good with hot curries and thai.

Casa Lapostolle Chardonnay is a medium bodied Chardonnay with a buttery texture and minty, citrus-like flavours. This wine fills the mouth with rich fruit that is balanced by a fresh, lively acidity.

Casa Lapostolle Merlot

Casa Lapostolle Merlot

Ref: ch702

Price: £10.50 (for 11 or fewer)

Price: £9.45 (for 12 or more)

The growing season was much drier and colder than the past seven years. There was an absence of rain during the fruit’s ripening season. The primary challenge of the 2006 vintage was the particularly long wait for each variety to reach proper phenolic maturity. However, the dry summer and an early autumn allowed us the proper conditions for maturity, thereby conserving the fruit and allowing good concentration with soft, well-rounded tannins. Cold nights at the beginning of April imparted a good level of acidity and fruit expression but extended the fruit’s ripening period. Monitoring and tasting the grapes was very important to ensure that each lot reached maturity. Leaf pruning during pre- and post-veraison was of the utmost importance in all our vineyards to improve the micro-climatic conditions for the fruit. Harvested by hand in small cases of 15kg.

Color: Young and intense bright purple red.

Nose: Very clean and intense aromas with delightfully fresh red fruit and black pepper dominating the nose.

Palate: Well structured and juicy tannins that evolve towards a fresh and mouth-watering natural acidity in the mid palate. The finish is long and shows a light touch of oak.

Service: Ideal companion of red meat, pasta with spiced sauces and strong flavoured vegetables. Recommended to decant half an hour prior to drinking, and serve at 16°C

This Merlot was aged 6 months in small French oak barrels. Casa Lapostolle Merlot features red fruit flavours, intense aromas an a lush texture. Very well structured with a long spicy finish.

Casa Lapostolle Merlot is bursting with rich, concentrated and ripe fruit character. Thanks to its smooth texture and good balance, this young wine should be enjoyed now or cellared for 10 years.

Hand-harvested in small baskets of 12-15 kilos. The season was quite normal but late summer temperatures were cooler and resulted in a growing season that was drier and colder than the past seven years. There was no rainfall during harvest; but due to the cooler temperatures throughout, the primary challenge of the vintage was the extended hang-time in order for each variety to reach proper phenolic maturity. This extension of the season conserved the fruit and allowed for good concentration with soft, well-rounded tannins. Cold nights at the beginning of April preserved the natural fruit acidity and lively expression. On the other hand, we were lucky that conditions remained stable and a dry autumn allowed us to wait patiently to harvest ripe fruits at the level of maturity we were looking for.

Colour: Pretty bright red with ruby violet hints.

Nose: Red fruit and cassis well balanced with an elegant touch of oak.

Palate: Middle body and good tannic structure create a wine that is perfect to be enjoyed today or cellar for several years.

Service: Open and leave to breathe minimum for an hour and serve at 16-18°C. Ideal companion of all red meat, winter meals and of course Barbecue!

Casa Lapostolle classic Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted from 85 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Carmenere, 6% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc grapes.

Color: A pretty and bright yellow with hints of pale green and straw shadows.

Nose: Elegant and aromatic nose with an impressive array of minerality, fruit and subtle oak. The Casablanca terroir expresses unique complexity with hints of flint and minerality in a unique combination with citrus, honey, and sweet spices.

Palate: Subtle elegance and a surprising freshness at the attack that develops into a round and juicy mid palate. Finish is long and intense.
Service: Enjoy with carpaccio, Shellfish. White fish and risotto with Parmigiano cheese or mushrooms. Serve at 12º C.

The oak is better integrated, and the wine reveals a more leesy, roasted hazel nut complexity to go along with copious quantities of tropical fruit, good glycerin, and a medium to full-bodied personality." Robert Parker Jr’s, Wine Advocate

Cuvee Alexandre Merlot

Cuvee Alexandre Merlot

Ref: ch711

Price: £18.51

Hand harvested from the end of March in small 15 kilos baskets. Most of the wine comes from non irrigated 60 years old vines, of limited yields. The season was quite normal but late summer temperatures were cooler and resulted in a growing season that was drier and colder than the past seven years. There was no rainfall during harvest; but due to the cooler temperatures throughout, the primary challenge of the 2006 vintage was the extended hang-time in order for each variety to reach proper phenolic maturity. Cold nights at the beginning of April preserved the natural fruit acidity and lively expression. On the other hand, we were lucky that conditions remained stable and a dry autumn allowed us to wait patiently to harvest ripe fruits at the level of maturity we were looking for.

Cuvee Alexandre Merlot is made from 85% Merlot and 15% Carmenere grapes.

Colour: Deep ruby red with bright violet hints.

Nose: Ripe black and red fruit such as plums, red and black currant with notes of rosemary, white pepper and basil. Elegant oak touches in notes of vanilla and nutmeg.

Palate: Round and creamy on the attack with a good weight on the mid palate, finishing with fresh acidity and a long and pleasant sensation.

Service: Ready to drink now or cellar for several years. Decant and serve at 16-18°. Ideal companion for meats and elaborate dishes.

Cuvee Alexandre Merlot by Casa Lapostolle was highly feted in the WHICH? wine guide 2000. The forward fruits are juxtaposed with the layered warm and structure of the tannins and the overall softness of the Merlot grape style.

Casa Lapostolle Cuvee Alexandre Pinot Noir

Casa Lapostolle Cuvee Alexandre Pinot Noir

Ref: ch706

Price: £20.52

The fruit is sourced exclusively from their Atalayas vineyard on the steep slopes of our Casablanca property. This vintage was harvested two weeks later than was scheduled. We tasted the berries at least twice a week and made selections according to the level of maturity. Acasa Lapostolle's Atalayas vineyard in Casablanca is located on separate facing slopes, which lend complexity and diversity to maturation. All the different parcels are then assembled into the final blend, and this diversity in the vineyard yields complexity in the wine. Harvested by hand in small cases of 12kg and transported in refrigerated trucks.

Color: A beautiful light ruby red, with young violet shades.

Nose: Intense ripe fruit with red berries, cherries, plums and black and white spices dominating. Smokey cedar touches at the finish.

Palate: Medium body, soft and supple on the entry, that develops into a smooth and crisp mid palate with a very silky finish.

Service: Great with typical Italian antipasti, Parma ham, gazpacho, tuna, veal, duck and goose. Open and serve at 16º C.

Casa Lapostolle Cuvee Alexandre Pinot Noir is made from 100& Pinot Noir grapes with 73% vinified in new French oak barrels and 27% in used French oak barrels. Only 459 cases were produced.

Casa Lapostolle Syrah 2003

Casa Lapostolle Syrah 2003

Ref: ch715

Price: £20.52

Quantity:

South American Syrah Trophy

The season began with a cold, cloudy spring and it rained only once. These spring conditions caused a delay in the budding and flowering periods, which were nearly two weeks late. Summer was quite normal and dry but during the last two weeks of February the temperature climbed, which corrected the delays observed during the early stages of growth. Harvested by hand in small cases of 12 kg and transported in refrigerated trucks. Our fifth crop of Syrah confirms that this varietal is performing very well in the specific terrior of our Las Kuras. Las Kuras means rocks in native language, and it is this stony terrior, which allows us to produce such a mineral rich and beautiful Syrah.

Color: Deep and attractive purple red with red black ink tones.

Nose: Powerful and intense, starting with a meatiness that opens up to blue flowers, blueberries, blackcurrants and black spices. Finishes with notes of toasted nuts and elegant hints of oak.

Palate: Concentrated structure, big body with velvety and round tannins, smooth density and a long lasting finish.

Service: Enjoy with spiced meats and also stews, beef, lamb, game or boar. Strongly recommended to decant an hour minimum, prior to drinking, and serve at 18°C

"This is an intense herbal, leathery Shiraz with floral, scented overtones. It has cedary tannins and crisp acids for a taut structure and the extra oak dimension gives a toasty depth and rich finish" Wine International - Oct 2004
