South American Syrah Trophy
The season began with a cold, cloudy spring and it rained only once. These spring conditions caused a delay in the budding and flowering periods, which were nearly two weeks late. Summer was quite normal and dry but during the last two weeks of February the temperature climbed, which corrected the delays observed during the early stages of growth. Harvested by hand in small cases of 12 kg and transported in refrigerated trucks. Our fifth crop of Syrah confirms that this varietal is performing very well in the specific terrior of our Las Kuras. Las Kuras means rocks in native language, and it is this stony terrior, which allows us to produce such a mineral rich and beautiful Syrah.
Color: Deep and attractive purple red with red black ink tones.
Nose: Powerful and intense, starting with a meatiness that opens up to blue flowers, blueberries, blackcurrants and black spices. Finishes with notes of toasted nuts and elegant hints of oak.
Palate: Concentrated structure, big body with velvety and round tannins, smooth density and a long lasting finish.
Service: Enjoy with spiced meats and also stews, beef, lamb, game or boar. Strongly recommended to decant an hour minimum, prior to drinking, and serve at 18°C
"This is an intense herbal, leathery Shiraz with floral, scented overtones. It has cedary tannins and crisp acids for a taut structure and the extra oak dimension gives a toasty depth and rich finish" Wine International - Oct 2004
