The Blend

The three grape varieties are selected for the Brut blend in proportions which depending on the climate variations, may vary with the year:

Pinot Noir (35-40%) for its strength and character
Pinot Meunier (35- 40%) for its fruit and subtlety
Chardonnay (22-25%) for its finesse and elegance.

Reserve wines, stored separately by cru, account for 25% to 30%. The rosé colour of the blend is obtained by adding 14% to16% of Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims, which has vinified as a red wine.

Tasting Note

Appearance: salmon colour, beautiful pearly bubbles, fine mousse.

Nose: intense fresh fruit aromas, especially of cherry, with mineral and toasted characteristics.

Palate: a powerful full-bodied wine yet surprisingly silky because of its maturity, with flavours reminiscent of crystalised fruit.

Canard-Duchêne Brut Rosé is a pleasant accompaniment for red meat or red berry desserts.

Recommendations

This Champagne is ready to drink. However, it will lose none of its qualities if put down for several years in a good cellar at a maximum temperature of 15° C. Champagne should be drunk at a temperature of 6° to 9° C. The bottle will be perfectly cool after twenty minutes in a champagne bucket filled with ice and water.
