Vineyards and Climate
La Mancha, meaning parched earth is the largest single demarcated wine region in Europe, positioned in the heart of Spain. Hot dry summers mean disease and pest risk is low and use of pesticides and fungicides minimal, although winters can be very cold and frost can be a problem. The Muñoz family owns a 45 hectare estate planted with Spanish and international grape varieties, with some vines over 50 years old. Long term contracted growers supply the balance of their grape requirements, and with an incentive scheme for grape quality in place, Muñoz ensure they obtain the best grapes from their growers before the balance is sold off to bulk producers in the region.
With a growing international reputation backed up by awards and competition medals, Muñoz is well positioned to become one of the hottest independently owned wineries in La Mancha.
