Barón de Ley is a winery which was founded in 1985 by a small group of prestigious Rioja professionals who decided to create a project which was unique at that time in the Denominación de Origen Calificada Rioja: a winery modelled on the Médoc châteaux, bringing together all the conditions that make a wine a work of art.

With this objective, the creators of Barón de Ley acquired the Imas estate, within the boundaries of Mendavia and on the left bank of the River Ebro. It is an exceptional place for growing vines due to its climatic conditions and the characteristics of its soils, on which 90 hectares of vines were planted.

This full and jammy wine with its sweet bouquet and aromas of bilberry and tar has a slightly roasted finish. Drinking well now, the wine will keep for a further 10 years. Decanting is recommended.

The site Vina Imas grows Gran Reserva in exceptionally good years. The wine can only be sold after 5 years of maturation, of which 2 years are spent in small oak barrels. This giant of a wine of the super year 1991 is more than just a wine it is part of Spain’s culture. At the recent blind Tasting of "Feinschmecker" magazine it came FIRST of all Gran Reserva tasted.

This full and powerful wine, with its sweet jammy bouquet and aromas of bilberry and tar has a slightly roasted finish. Drinking well now, the wine will keep for a further 10 years, decanting is recommended when serving at 18oC.
